Peace Paddle

On June 4th, immediately after Laird’s plane landed from Tahiti he headed to the beach to join the Ocean's Initiative of the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC), sponsored by the Chanel J12 watch at the Malibu home of Ron and Kelly Meyer. Chanel and the NRDC put together two amazing events that connected supporters both in and out of the water.

At sunset Laird and Dave Kalama led a gigantic Peace Paddle that was formed by passionate ocean lovers. It was a chilly afternoon but that didn’t stop the 250+ participants that showed up. They had to B.Y.O.B. (bring your own board) so only the avid stand up paddlers attended. The peace sign was put in motion to help raise awareness and was also aimed to break the current world record which was photographed by Helicopter.

The event brought many celebrities and ocean lovers together in a fun and harmonious way. Once the peace paddle ended Laird and Gabby cleaned up for a huge benefit up the street hosted by Ron and Kelly Meyer.

The event brought Hollywood stars like Barbara Streisand, Jeff Bridges, Leonardo DiCaprio, Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson, and Drew Barrymore just to name a few. For Laird this was his favorite way to help raise money for great causes; showcasing the ocean.
